Black leaders: Paterson should stay

BROOKLYN - Prominent black leaders met to discuss the political future of Gov. David Paterson, ultimately throwing their support behind the embattled state leader.

The discussion took place at Sylvia's restaurant in Harlem Thursday. Members of the community, state and local officials and activists met to discuss whether Paterson could continue in his role as governor amid the growing scandals surrounding his administration.

?The only issue before us is do we support his ability to continue to be the governor? Yes we do,? says Rep. Jose Serrano.

If he resigns, Paterson would be replaced by Lt. Governor Richard Ravitch.
