Blizzard's after-effects snarl city transit

BROOKLYN - The two feet of snow dumped by the blizzard caused hefty commuter delays throughout Brooklyn today.

Officials say nearly 1,000 buses were out of commission because of the storm.

People looking to take the subway today didn?t fare much better. The ?R? train was one of the few running along its regular route, and some subway entrances and signs were still buried under mounds of snow.

Local commuters said they are filled with frustration. Transportation officials said bus and subway service largely depends on snow removal, which is up to the city?s Department of Sanitation.
