Blizzard slams Brooklyn with snow and high winds

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn was blasted by a blizzard that dumped between 12-18 inches of snow on the borough and the rest of the city. The snowfall started early Sunday and intensified during the afternoon. News 12 Brooklyn meteorologists say the snow tapered off throughout Monday morning. The snowfall was accompanied by very strong winds with gusts of up to 60 mph, which can cause drifting snow. Drivers were urged to stay off the roads unless necessary. If traveling is a must, drivers are asked to use extreme caution. Alternate-side parking rules were suspended today, but drivers must still feed the meters.
