BROOKLYN - As winter officially began today, Mayor Michael Bloomberg told residents to leave homes that have been without heat since Hurricane Sandy.

Bloomberg says people should find warm places to stay as the weather turns colder instead of staying in storm-damaged homes.

Residents seeking warm places to stay can call 311 for more information.
