BROOKLYN - Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to change the way the city makes education cuts.

Bloomberg warns if the city's education budget is slashed, seniority rules could force him to lay off nearly every teacher hired in the last five years.

Teachers must be laid off according to a last in, first out rule. Bloomberg says a teachers's merit should be taken into account.
