BROOKLYN - Bodega owners held a protest against the new law banning ATMs from sidewalks in New York City.

According to the new law, owners of sidewalk ATMs will have until Sept. 1 to get them off the streets or face a $5,000 fine. The law stated the ATMs take up too much space on the sidewalk and obstruct traffic.

The store owners say the machines should be allowed to stay because they provide the community service of saving people a trip to the bank. Many also say that having an ATM near their business increases sales.
