PROSPECT PARK - Borough President Eric Adams helped distribute sketches Thursday evening at Grand Army Plaza of a man who police believe tried to rape a jogger.

Police say the man approached the jogger in Prospect Park around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. He pulled out a knife and told the jogger he was going to sexually assault her, according to investigators.

The jogger managed to get away, but authorities have released surveillance video of the suspect.

"A person who has attempted to rape must be apprehended, particularly in a park like this," Adams said earlier in the day during a news conference. "Many young ladies use this park to jog throughout the night, not only during the early morning hours, but also during the day."

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
