BROOKLYN - Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced today that he would like a casino to be built at Coney Island.

Markowitz, who made his plea in a New York Daily News editorial, said the casino would bring much needed jobs to the Coney Island area and borough.

Brooklyn residents had mixed reactions to the plea. While some thought it was a good idea, others thought the casino would bring more crime to the area.

At the moment, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the State Legislature are considering proposals to bring a casino to the greater New York City area.
