Boy hit by car in Bedford-Stuyvesant

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Authorities say a Bedford-Stuyvesant boy was hit by a car while crossing the street Saturday afternoon.

The boy was struck on Gates Avenue near I.S. 143. Eyewitnesses say the boy ran out into the street to catch up with his father when a car slid into him. The car tried to stop, but couldn't on the wet, slick roadway, witnesses say.

Police say the boy was taken to King County Hospital where he's recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
