FORT GREENE - With election day rapidly approaching, a Boy Scout troop spent Saturday encouraging others to register to vote in Fort Greene.

Alessandro Galli, 12, yelled out at Atlantic Terminal Mall patrons that they can make a difference in the nation by voting. Teenager Noah Makfoy agrees. He says there?s no middle ground when it comes to democracy, either Brooklyn residents will be passive or active in the process.

City officials say voter turnout has significantly dwindled over the past few decades. However, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz says more Brooklyn residents are turning up at the ballot boxes than before.

The last day to register for the November 7 election is October 13.
