Brakes put on opening of Coney Island slide

BROOKLYN - A new summertime attraction at Coney Island might not be open in time for the holiday weekend because of delays with construction.

A new water slide was expected to be ready for the Fourth of July weekend, but the city's Department of Parks and Recreation still needs to authorize construction for the slide. It must then be approved by the Department of Environmental Conservation before it can be opened to the public.

The office of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz is working with city agencies to try and get the slide opened sooner.
