THE BRONX - A Bronx woman charged with the murder of her 6-month-old daughter was ordered to a psychiatric evaluation and held without bail after her arraignment Friday.

Tenisha Fearon, 27, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Julinah Lawrence.

The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. Thursday. Police say several 911 callers reported Fearon was holding her child out a window in the back of her six-floor apartment building on Tiebout Avenue in Tremont. Fearon eventually dropped the girl, police say.

Lawrence was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Fearon's three other children, all between ages 4 and 10, were found inside the apartment. Police say they have been taken from the mother for their own safety.

Fearon was a licensed day care provider up until a few months ago. The Health Department says she was running it out of her apartment, but her license expired and was not renewed.

Her godmother Louella Hatch told News 12 that she believes Fearon was suffering from postpartum depression.

Hatch says the baby's father lives in the Bronx and that police have been questioning him.
