CONEY ISLAND - Local leaders and elected officials gathered today to announce the opening of city beaches on Saturday in Brooklyn.  

That includes Brighton, Manhattan and Coney Island beaches.

While beachgoers are allowed onto the beach today and tomorrow, swimming is prohibited until beaches officially open and lifeguards report to duty at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The boardwalk businesses are also currently open and buzzing with customers.
