Brooklyn businesses to get tax credits

BROOKLYN - Owners of small businesses in Brooklyn are hoping to get a boost from the recent health care reform by way of tax credits.

Bill Giannopoulos, the owner of Madison Florist on Kings Highway, provides health insurance to most of his employees, but he says he's not sure how long he'll be able to keep it up.

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) says entrepreneurs like Giannopoulos will soon be eligible for new tax breaks that will enable them to offer health coverage for their workers or keep existing plans.

"Getting a few extra dollars to help them with their health care costs is going to turn out to be a great deal," Weiner says.
