BROOKLYN - The New Life Tabernacle Church in Brooklyn took some time Sunday to remember the first responders who lost their lives on Sept. 11, and to thank those who are currently risking their lives to keep citizens safe.

Police officers, firefighters and EMS workers attended the gathering, which sought to bridge the gap between responders and the public.

Officers and emergency workers were nominated by their peers to receive special recognition at the ceremony.
