BROOKLYN - The police department is joining forces with Brooklyn religious leaders to fight crime in the borough.

They established the Brooklyn Clergy NYPD Task Force to combat violence and promote understanding.

The program consists of a 10-point system that utilizes the influence of clergy members in the community. Religious leaders will participate in ride-alongs with police and observe training. Both groups are hoping the presence of clergy will deter gang members from violence.
