BROOKLYN - Brooklyn College says it is offering a program to help low-income families file their taxes.

Organizers say the Vita program is designed to serve clients who have difficulty paying for professional filing services.

They say many of the program's volunteers are accounting students at the university who are trained by the IRS.

Last year, volunteers helped 1,000 taxpayers file their returns. They say this year they expect that number to double.
