BROOKLYN - A pro-Israel group posted controversial posters throughout the Brooklyn College campus attacking a pro-Palestinian student organization.

The David Horowitz Freedom Group is claiming responsibility for putting up the posters, which have since been taken down.

The posters compare the group Student Justice for Palestine, also known as SJP, to Hamas, claiming Hamas is a terrorist organization that has the goal of eliminating the Jewish state.

Brooklyn College released a statement in part saying, "We support free speech, and we seek to maintain a safe and tolerant campus for our students, faculty and staff. We also do not permit public defacement or illegal postings on our property."
