Brooklyn construction worker falls to death

NEW YORK - (AP) - A construction worker at a building going up inBrooklyn died after he lost his balance and fell about 50 feet.

Police say 35-year-old Louis Zaruma, of Brooklyn, was putting upsteel framework for the 6th floor of a residential building onBedford Avenue Thursday afternoon when he fell. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deadon arrival. Officials say it appears he was not wearing a safetyharness.
