BOERUM HILL - An ice storm that tore through Brooklyn and New York City early today snarled the morning commute and made even the simple task of walking a chore.

Icy roadways proved treacherous for drivers trying to make their way to work. Motorists were urged to take their time amid dangerous conditions on the roads.

For those simply trying to walk to their destination, ice-encased sidewalks provided plenty of challenges. Residents were seen slipping, sliding and holding on to rails for dear life as they tried to navigate across the borough.
