Brooklyn family asks for help finding Vernal Hay, 75, who suffers from dementia

SUNSET PARK - A Brooklyn family is asking for the public's help after their loved one went missing following his discharge from the hospital.

Vernal Hay, 75, suffers from dementia and was last seen at the Lutheran Medical Center Tuesday night. Family members say Hay was taken to the hospital with leg pain in the afternoon and was last seen being discharged at around 9:15 p.m.

Hay's daughter and ex-wife says they were not notified of his disappearance until Wednesday morning. Hay is 5 feel 11 inches, 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, brown boots and a fedora.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
