Many Brooklyn firehouses may be losing one of their own as a staffing shakeup goes into effect at midnight.

The FDNY says it plans to take away the fifth firefighter at 14 of the largest engine companies throughout the borough. The change would place four firefighters and one officer at each firehouse.
