Brooklyn food banks brace for holidays

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - With more Brooklyn residents falling on hard times during the holidays, food banks are bracing for increasing demand.

At St. John's Bread & Life in Bed-Stuy, workers say they have served 50 percent more people in the past year. Bread & Life has been able to meet the demand because of an increase in federal funding.

However, some wonder how the food pantry will meet the need when donations dry up after the holidays and people continued to flock there for meals.
