BROOKLYN - In addition to housing the headquarters of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, Brooklyn is the hometown of another Democrat in the race -- Bernie Sanders.

The U.S. senator from Vermont attended James Madison High School in Flatbush.

Steve Slavin, who went to high school and then to Brooklyn College with Sanders, says the presidential hopeful had a passion for politics back then, too.

Former classmates say the outspoken candidate was always one to speak his mind, like many in Brooklyn.

And some former neighbors say that's why they like him -- he's clever and willing to get right to the point.
