BROOKLYN - A 5-year-old Brooklyn girl is still beaming after she greeted Pope Francis at John F. Kennedy International Airport this week.

Maria Teresa Heyer was selected to be one of a handful of local students to greet the pope after he landed. Too nervous to speak to the pontiff, Pope Francis hugged the little girl and gave her a kiss.

"I was really trying to just bask in that beautiful moment and just his humility as he came over to all of us," said the girl's mother.

Her parents say no matter what, she's been blessed and she will carry the honor with her for the rest of her life.
