Brooklyn Heights church holds service in appreciation of police

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - The parishioners at the First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn Heights held their 17th annual Police Appreciation Day service.

The church, which is in the NYPD's 84th precinct, says that it is because of the police that everyone is kept safe and because they risk their lives every day the least they can do is spend a day to honor them.

"The precinct and this church have been bonded for many years," said church elder Dick Turmail. "We understand the job that they must do and it's a very difficult job."

Many officers from the precinct were in attendance for today's service thanking and honoring them.
