BROOKLYN - Brooklyn lawmakers are fighting to bring the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show back to the borough.

Brooklyn City Council Member Daniel Squadron and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio are urging the city to bring the fireworks back to the East River, where they had been for more than 30 years. The show has taken place over the Hudson River for the past several years.

A spokesperson from Macy's said the final choice of the location is dependent on many factors, including available city resources and secure public viewing locations. The spokesperson did say that the location can change from year to year.

A fireworks display at Coney Island will take place on the Fourth of July.
