Brooklyn man arraigned in connection with series of armed rapes

KINGS COUNTY - A Brooklyn man who police suspect was involved in a series of armed rapes was arraigned Tuesday.Curtis Phillips, 33, was taken into custody after a reported rape last month. According to police, Phillips used ice picks, guns and box cutters to force his victims into cars, where he raped and sodomized them. He is believed to have carried out a series of similar attacks over the summer. Authorities say he is a DNA match in three Brooklyn rapes. One occurred in Flatlands, one in East Flatbush and one in Brownsville.The victims range in age from 19 to 26 years old. Phillips is being charged with four counts of rape and 12 counts of sexual abuse.
