Brooklyn mother grateful for regaining eye sight

BUSHWICK - A Brooklyn mother says she remains grateful for an operation last year that gave her the gift of sight.

After going blind a few years ago, Cassy Rivera received an implant in her left eye and says she feels blessed to be able to see again.

Rivera says since the operation she has been able to go on trips with her kids. She says she's been able to go see musicals and decorate her Christmas tree, things she couldn't enjoy before.

Rivera is also writing a book in braille, focusing on her experience losing her sight and then regaining it. She says she hopes it will be an inspiration for people dealing with blindness.
