BENSONHURST - Police are searching for a gunman who walked in through the front door of a Bensonhurst home and fatally shot a 31-year-old mother in the chest Wednesday.

Authorities say the incident happened at around 6 a.m., while many residents were getting ready for work.

?I raised my kids in this neighborhood because it's safe,? says Tony Cafielo. ?This doesn't happen here.?

Neighbors say the victim, whose name has not been released, just moved into the house in September with her 4-year-old son in order to live with a friend.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
