BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn pastor has joined the running for mayor in New York City.

Erik Salgado is the pastor of a Bensonhurst church that serves more than 1,000 members in the tri-state area. He defines himself as a "conservative Democrat."

Polls show City Council Speaker Christine Quinn leading the race for the Democratic nomination. The primary will be Sept. 10 and the general election is Nov. 5.
