Brooklyn pizzeria owner stabbed in broad-daylight

BROOKLYN - A popular Brooklyn pizzeria owner was seriously wounded after being stabbed in broad-daylight this afternoon in Carroll Gardens.

According to police, 44-year-old Mark Iacona was walking down Smith Street, just a few blocks from his well-known restaurant, Lucali, when he was stabbed in the back and shoulder. Witnesses say the assailant fled the scene in a black sedan.

Investigators say they are questioning a suspect in the attack after he showed up at the hospital in a black sedan to get treatment for cuts on his hands.

Police say Iacona is recovering in the hospital and is expected to be OK.

In 2009, GQ magazine ranked Lucali the second-best pizzeria in the U.S.
