BROOKLYN - The U.S. Postal Service is honoring a Brooklyn employee for National Superhero Day.

Sheila Nelson was recognized Monday for her heroic act of kindness last year. Nelson reached out to help Corinthia Waller at the Cadman Plaza Post Office after her autistic son had fallen to the ground. Waller said she couldn’t get him to calm down or stand up again, until Nelson offered her assistance.

After the incident, Waller wrote a letter to the postmaster general in Washington, D.C. commending Nelson on her act of heroism.

"I am truly honored to represent the post office in such a positive light," Nelson told News 12.
