(08/10/10) BROOKLYN - The son of a well-known Brooklyn rabbi was shot while being robbed in front of his home.

Police say Burech Halberstam, 25, was shot in the abdomen and taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Neighbors say the neighborhood used to be dangerous in the 70s and 80s, but it has been better since Hasidic Jews moved in.

Witnesses say the suspects are two Hispanic males and they escaped in a white van. Halberstam, a father of four, is expected to be OK.
