BENSONHURST - A Brooklyn resident is celebrating her 100th birthday, and another high school graduation.

Rose Shimony came to America from Russia 92 years ago and made Bensonhurst her home.

Her family wanted to mark her special birthday by putting together a timeline of her life in Brooklyn. When they couldn't find her high school diploma to add to the gift, they put in a request for it. They got something even better--a hand-delivered honorary diploma from Chancellor Dennis Wallcott.

Shimony did celebrate the milestone a little early. Her birthday isn't until Jan. 21.

When asked what her secret was, Shimony said she was simply blessed for being a good person.
