BROOKLYN - Dozens of Brooklyn residents participated in a blood drive today at Long Island University's Brooklyn Hospital as a way of helping victims injured during the Boston Marathon bombings.

The two-day event began yesterday with students, faculty and residents from all over the borough donating a pint of blood.

According to the New York Blood Center, three lives are saved for every pint of blood a person donates.
