PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS - Community members, elected officials and NYPD officers walked together in solidarity Saturday for Brooklyn's annual Unity Walk.

The 16th annual walk was held in an effort to improve relations between the NYPD and the city's communities.

Walk organizers say the event and more open communication are especially important in light of growing tensions that have arisen from recent police-involved shootings.

Dozens of Brooklyn residents, clergy members, officials and police turned out for the walk.
