Brooklyn residents take a dip in Coney Island

BROOKLYN - Some brave Brooklyn residents took the plunge and got into the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean yesterday.

Members of the Coney Island Polar Bears and their friends sprinted into the ocean. The annual event takes place every winter.

Participants say the 34-degree water felt invigorating. Many say endorphins from their excitement distracted them from the temperatures.

"After a swim I feel like a new person, no pain, no problems," said Lina Oleynikova. "Everything is gone and left in the cold water."
