BROOKLYN - Hundreds of residents celebrated the 32nd Annual Columbus Day Parade in Bensonhurst over the weekend.

Parade goers marched down 18th Avenue from 61st to 84th Street Saturday, enjoying floats, dance and music from dozens of schools and community organizations throughout the borough. Most of the schools came from Bensonhurst and Bay Ridge, including Fort Hamilton High School, whose students played a selection for the crowd and parade committee.

Participants say the parade celebrates Italian culture and the community.

Organizers say next year they plan for the parade to be extended a few more blocks to end at a new Italian center.
