Brooklyn to experience weekend travel headaches

THE BRONX - Brooklyn residents will likely experience a weekend of travel headaches with massive LIRR service disruptions and several road closures.

LIRR service will be completely suspended in the borough. Officials say they will be updating its signal and switching control system at the Jamaica station.

The New York City Marathon will also shut down 4th Avenue and 23rd Street on Sunday as thousands of runners trek through the borough. The annual event will also close the Verrazano Bridge to drivers.
