Brooklyn vendor wins first prize at Vendy Awards

RED HOOK - A Brooklyn food truck took the top prize at this year's Vendy Awards.

Rafael Soler owns the Red Hook-based food truck that sells papusa, an El Salvadorean treat comprised of a corn patty stuffed with different meats and cheeses.

Regulars in the area say they aren't surprised Soler's papusa won first prize.  Customer Kara O'Malley says, "I think they're a great ethnic food that's unusual and also delicious."
