BROOKLYN - A man involved in the beating death of his girlfriend?s 11-year-old daughter was sentenced to one year in prison today.

Andres Pavon-Baleras was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in 2008. The little girl?s mother, Florencia Vasquez, was sentenced to 16 years for killing her daughter by beating her with a broomstick.

Prosecutors claimed Vasquez beat her 11-year-old daughter and left her to die in her bed.

The judge also said that Pavon-Baleras will be deported back to Mexico.
