Brownsville community calls for end to violence

BROWNSVILLE - As police search for the suspect who shot a 16-year-old girl in the face this past weekend, members of the Brownsville community gathered by her hospital bed to pray for her recovery.

Police say the incident took place outside her home at the Seth Low housing development on Belmont Avenue early Sunday morning.

The shooting comes less than six months after another 15-year-old was shot to death outside the Seth Low houses, sending the community in an uproar over increased violence.

Authorities say they have increased their presence at the housing development and are urging anyone with information in the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
