Brownsville man found dead, tied up in his home

BROWNSVILLE - A Brownsville man was found dead and tied up inside his family?s home Sunday morning.

Sources say it was Glen Smith?s niece who found the 49-year-old unconscious, beaten and tied up at 592 Thomas S. Boyland St. Smith?s friend Glenroy Ford says the man?s niece called him when she found her uncle. Ford says Smith?s apartment appeared ransacked.

?Everything turned over, upside down, like they were looking for something,? Ford says.

Smith leaves behind siblings, children and grandchildren.

Police say the medical examiner is determining exactly how Smith died. They are continuing to investigate.
