Brownsville man hails son as hero after assault

BROOKLYN - A Brownsville man says his son came to his rescue as he was being assaulted.

Francis Ellis, 67, says he was attacked around 1:20 a.m. on April 23.

Ellis says he was getting out of his car when a suspect approached him and started to punch him. He was hit multiple times in the head and was pushed to the ground.

Ellis says he called to his son, Jarrod, who rushed outside and began to beat up the suspect.

He says he spent two days in the hospital and is still dizzy from the incident.
