Bushwick apartment fire leaves 17 people homeless

BUSHWICK - The Red Cross says 17 Brooklyn residents have been left homeless after a massive fire ripped through their apartment building in Bushwick last night.

Fire officials say five tenants and one firefighter were injured in the fire.

Neighbors say the first floor is gutted and the entire second floor has smoke damage.

Tenants say everyone that lived there rented a room. Now that the doors are closed, more than a dozen people are staying with neighbors, or at another building nearby.

Officials say the fire is still under investigation.
