BROOKLYN - Police say a 52-year-old bodega worker is dead after being shot several times inside a Bushwick store early Thursday morning.

Officials say shots were fired at 427 Central Ave. at around 6:45 a.m.

They say, according to surveillance video from inside the deli, it does not appear to have been a robbery.

The video shows a man walk into the store, take a gun out of a bag, shoot the victim in the arm and chest. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released the victim's name, though a man who spoke off-camera with News 12 says he is a father of 13 whose family is all grieving in his home country of Yemen. Police say the victim does not have any history of trouble with the law.

No arrests have been made.

Outraged neighbors and members of the Bodega Association of the United States gathered on Central Avenue to draw attention to the incident and demand answers from the NYPD.
