BROOKLYN - Business owners in Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens say they want to form a Business Improvement District in the area.

Joan D'Amico, who owns D'Amico Foods on Court Street in Cobble Hill, says she wants the BID to stretch from Pacific Street to Hamilton Avenue on Court and Smith streets.

"It's definitely a way for people to know who we are, where we are, what we have and come here," says D'Amico.

To support the BID, local stores would have to pay a tax. Supporters say the tax would bring more city services to the BID, including sanitation and holiday decorations.
