BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - Businesses say repair work and the resulting power outage after a water main break Thursday in Brooklyn Heights still hurt revenue long after the water was cleaned up.

A number of restaurants nearby remained closed Friday, a day after water gushed out onto Montague Street. Jerry Shen, a local business owner, says he had to throw out food that spoiled when his freezer lost power, and he can't reopen until an electrician repairs damaged equipment.

For a while, the MTA rerouted R trains over the Manhattan Bridge to bypass the trouble. Service has since returned to normal.

At one point, nearly 30 businesses in the area were without water. The Department of Environmental Protection says water is now working in all of the affected buildings.
