BROOKLYN - Businesses along Water Street are complaining that their sales are being hammered by nearby construction.

Construction materials have blocked 16 spaces on the street. Some of the area businesses say it is forcing them to lose out on regular customers. One restaurant owner claims he has lost 75 percent of his lunch trade.

Local officials, police and the neighborhood association met yesterday to tour the area and determine what the problems are. No immediate resolution was reached.
